Promote the continental law expertise

A group of jurists from Chile, Venezuela, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, Colombia and France are conducting a study on drafting a joint project on South American contract law.

This project is aimed at maintaining and strengthening the continental law tradition in the four countries, to promote economic relations between those countries, and to offer a modern contract law model to other countries in Latin America.

This group of jurists is chaired by the Diego Portales University, represented by Professor Carlos Pizarro, who monitors the progress of the works and their organization.

The Fondation supports this project by providing a grant. Further, the course subject-matter of the Continental Law Chair established by the Fondation touches on contract law and globalization.

  • In 2009-2010, the project group specified the countries involved, defined the work methodology, set up the work groups, and published a dedicated website.
