UNCITRAL (United Nations Commission on International Trade Law) is composed of 60 member states and meets for a full session once a year, alternating between Vienna and New York.

It is an important source of International Commercial Law in these areas, producing drafts of international conventions, model laws, legislative guidelines, international arbitration regulations, etc.

Its works are monitored in Paris by the Office of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, as well as by the Ministry of Justice.

We all recognized that UNCITRAL is under the heavy influence of Anglo-American law, for reasons related both to its work methods as well as the under-representation of French professional circles with UNCITRAL—whereas American professionals carry out intense lobbying efforts.

This state of affairs leads to a situation whereby the regulations issued by UNCITRAL are shifting evermore toward Common Law.

The Fondation, along with its Scientific Council, is creating an organized presence—particularly that of professionals—in working groups.
